Helping the Design Museum's 'Design Ventura' programme reach out to communities and schools.
Engaging young people through design
We’ve been working closely with the Design Museum in London, helping its “Design Ventura” programme curate materials aimed at engaging young people with the design industry. As part of its first year in its new home, the focal centre for design in the UK, the museum is looking to connect with schoolchildren across the country.
Our co-founder Henry James set a design challenge as part of the £83m museum’s launch event. HRH Prince Philip spoke with the young people who had been challenged with making creative modifications to a product for imaginary people. The product was the SM100 solar light by inventid and we were impressed to see it turned into a chandelier, amongst other innovative ideas!
We were also delighted to deliver the keynote address at a Design Museum event. In February 2017 Henry spoke with educators and their competition-winning students - the designers of tomorrow. He shared stories of his personal experiences and his feeling that future designers have a great deal of responsibility to help shape a world we all want to live in.
